Further Convo With Bidfood Sales Rep (About Cost)
"Maybe say 20% to 30% as a minimum [What companies pay Bidfood to distribute their product], so if you are retailing for $20 then expect the retailer to want a minimum of 30 and closer to 50% markup depending on the product so your wholesale price would be about $13.30 and your sell price to bidfood would be $10.25 - so you would need to be sourcing/packaging and marketing for less than that $10.25 to make a profit (I have no idea on your costings but this gives a bit of a guide). Some lines we make less on but have high volume and others make heaps on but low volume - if you worked on the higher % and it worked then you have a worst case scenario plan that will work. Then as you get more exact figures you can play with the numbers more."
