Dehydrator Machine

We would need to buy a dehydrator to make our food, the size and cost of which would depend on our scale. There are quite a few smaller options that would be ideal for the initial stages of our business. These range from $1000 to $30,000 NZD from what is available publically. For a much larger scale we can estimate it would cost over $100,000 to purchase the machinery.

The Importance Of Portion Sizing

Many pets are over weight or obese due to over feeding.

With dehydrated pet food, it is more difficult to estimate the correct serving size for your pet. This is because once re-hydrated the food expands in size. (0.9kg dehydrated to 3kg hydrated)

Interesting Pet Meat & Food Facts

Cooked bones and rawhide chews can cause major health problems requiring emergency surgery.

Wheat-based treats can bring on allergies. (Consider Coconut Chips as an alternative.)

Onions, grapes, raisins, chocolate, the article sweetener Xylitol and other common foods can be toxic for dogs and must be avoided.

Most kibble is loaded with corn, a cheap filler. Unfortunately, the corn isn’t the luscious kind you and I eat.

It’s feed corn (like cattle eat), or cheap feed corn remnants. Even corn meal dust counts as corn. The corn may even have been condemned for human consumption, there being no upper level of pesticide contamination for pet foods.
